As December 25th approaches, it’s nearly time for us to unwind and enjoy a time of celebration. While the lead up to the event can be stressful, we often forget to appreciate and be grateful for all that we have.
Paying attention to the special things in life gives you the power to change your perspective and enhance your enjoyment over this festive season, so lets delve into the 10 things to be thankful for.
10 THINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR THIS SEASON
Whether its being surrounded by friends or family, this is usually a time that represents togetherness. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, spending quality time with loved ones becomes more and more infrequent, therefore embracing this cherished time is essential.
The extra effort made to arrange festive gatherings, taking family photos and relishing in one anthers company is truly something to be thankful for this season. Be present and appreciate the special people in your life for others may not be as fortunate.
While I’m aware it’s not always about the materialistic things in life, being able to participate in the act of giving and receiving this time of the year is great and I am truly grateful!
I have always been one for making my gifts personalised, by going that extra mile to think about the people behind my gifts, I believe it’s a nice way of letting them know that you are grateful for their presence. Even if you can’t afford a lot, it really is the thought that counts. I am also truly grateful for receiving gifts this year, nothing beats opening up a mystery parcel made just for you.
Now, I’m sure i’m not the only one who will over indulge this festive season? The amount of food that gets bought and eaten is astronomical! How lucky are we to enjoy such a pleasure?!
As you tuck into those crispy roast spuds or delve into that cheese and biscuit board, be thankful for such delicious food and drink. It truly is a luxury and I am grateful for that!
I take my hat off to the people who help the homeless this year, it really puts into perspective how the comfort of your own home, being warm and protected is something to be grateful for.
As my boyfriend wished for a “White Christmas” this year, my mum expressed her sympathy for the homeless if it were to be a white Christmas – this made me think twice about our priorities. Be grateful for your home this season.
I am healthy, my family is healthy and I am thankful.
Being healthy is one of the most important things in life so please please don’t take it for granted. I know a few people who have had a tough year, whether that be down to their own health or the health of a family member – If you wake up with your health today, express your gratitude.
Another day to live
“Upon waking, let your first thought be Thank you” – Unknown
Not everybody celebrates this season so to some its just “another day“. But the fact you woke up today is a blessing. The fact you woke up yesterday is a blessing. Another year to embrace and another chance at life is something we should all be truly thankful for. YOU ARE ALIVE, isn’t that all that matters!?
This is the first year my Mum will be working on Christmas day, while the majority of us will have the luxury of having a week off or just Christmas day off of work, many will be working and providing a 24 hour service to our nation.
If you have time off this season, relax, make the most of it, enjoy and be thankful.
(P.s even if you are working, you can still give thanks and appreciate that fact that you are able to contribute by making someone else’s holiday special!)
Without the universe and the world we live in, none of this would exist. The laughter, the joy, the beautiful twinkly lights. Give thanks for all the above and more, the universe is what captures our whole existence, isn’t that beautiful?
A chance to reflect on the year you’ve had
After the 25th ends, our minds reflect on the year we’ve had- what went good and what went bad? Take the opportunity to be thankful for what you have achieved, but also acknowledge where you could thrive even more and succeed. ( I didn’t intend for that to rhyme but hey lets go with it! haha)
Seriously, get your gratitude groove on and be thankful for all that 2017 has presented you. Even if it wasn’t so great be thankful that you are about to enter a whole new phase!
Your Supporters (For me its YOU)
Last but not least, acknowledge the people who have supported you throughout this year. Be thankful for anyone who has shown you the support you have needed.
This year was the start of Kiarnajayne.com and while I am truly lucky to have such supportive friends and family, I would like to say a massive THANK YOU for taking the time to read my posts and visit my blog!
Without readers, this space on the internet would mean nothing. The purpose of my blog is to enhance the way you perceive life to be. A blog I wish I could’ve read when I was going through tough times in my life. As I share my personal experiences and tips to lead a more optimistic life, I hope to continue to inspire you.
** Furthermore, I will not be uploading my usual Monday & Thursday posts on the week commencing December 25th, purely because I will be taking the time to reflect and rest, so that I am fresh and inspired to produce more content for you next year!
On that note, I wish you a very Happy Holiday – Love and light to you all x
